What We Do
The mission of NYU Wagner’s Students for Criminal Justice Reform (SCJR) is to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue that explores the intersections between criminal justice and other areas of public policy. Through panel discussions and community engagement, we provide a forum for sharing information, debating policies, networking, and brainstorming ways to improve the criminal justice system.
In 2010, SCJR received the New York University President’s Service Award for exhibiting outstanding leadership in engaging civic leaders and students in significant cross-disciplinary dialogue about criminal justice policies.
- Spreading awareness about SCJR, and engaging the Wagner and NYU communities around criminal justice-related issues.
- Creating partnerships with other Wagner groups to learn about the student group process, to support other groups, and to establish symbiotic relationships across Wagner.
- Building a unified network in the criminal justice-focused community.
- Expanding networking possibilities and volunteer initiatives for Wagner students.
